==========================================================================
Engimetry Link - a plugin for ETABS
==========================================================================

It lets the Engimetry website build your frame in the ETABS that is
already open on this computer, and lets the Engimetry assistant read,
change and analyse the model open there. No Python, no file to import.

For ETABS v22 and newer (it is built for .NET 8, like ETABS itself).
  Tested with ETABS 23.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALL - nothing to register, no administrator rights
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Put this folder somewhere it can stay. C:\Engimetry\ETABS is fine.
Do not leave it in Downloads: ETABS remembers the path.

    2. Windows blocks files that came from a zip, and a blocked DLL fails
silently. Right-click each .dll inside, choose Properties, and tick
"Unblock" if you see it. (Or, in PowerShell in this folder:
       Get-ChildItem -Recurse | Unblock-File)

    3. In ETABS: Tools > Add/Show Plug-Ins
       Press Browse, and pick:

           EngimetryEtabs.dll

The Plugin Name and Menu Text fill themselves in.
Press Add. The status must say OK.

Do NOT copy ETABSv1.dll into this folder - ETABS uses its own.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
  USING IT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. In ETABS: Tools > Engimetry Link
A window opens beside ETABS and shows a pairing code.

  2. In Engimetry: ETABS > Export Model, or the assistant (Chat tab)
Type the pairing code into the box. Once is enough - it is
     remembered on both sides.

  3. Press "Send to ETABS", or ask the assistant about your model.

Leave the Engimetry Link window open while you work. Closing it stops
the link; opening it again from Tools starts it back up.

The Undo button at the bottom of the window takes back the last change
the assistant made - ETABS's own Undo does not cover changes made by a
  plugin.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
  IF IT DOES NOT WORK
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The status does not say OK when I press Add"
The DLL is blocked. Unblock it (step 2 above).

"Engimetry says there is no plugin on this computer"
The Engimetry Link window is not open. Tools > Engimetry Link.

"Engimetry says this website is not allowed"
The Engimetry Link window shows the address and an Allow button.
      Press it, then send again.

"Engimetry says the pairing code is wrong"
Copy it again from the window - it changes if somebody pressed
      "New code".

  "Port 8789 is already taken"
Another copy of ETABS has the link open. Close its Engimetry Link
      window. (SAP2000's plugin uses 8787, Revit's 8788 - all three can
      be open together.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
  WHAT IT TOUCHES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Listens on 127.0.0.1 only - this computer talking to itself. It is not
reachable from the office network or the internet.

Settings and the pairing code are kept in:
      %APPDATA%\Engimetry\etabs.json

A copy of the model is kept before every change the assistant makes,
  for the Undo button, in:
      %LOCALAPPDATA%\Engimetry\Undo-ETABS

To remove it: take it out of Tools > Add/Show Plug-Ins, then delete
  this folder.
